Post subject: Create Your Own Custom Dashboard in Firefox [How To]
New postPosted: Mon Aug 31, 2009 10:58 am

If you would like to create a custom dashboard, like the one shown below, this guide will show you how.

Download Speed Dial

Download Speed Dial for Firefox here.

Configure Speed Dial

Click on an empty dial and assign a web page URL. Then click Crop Selector.

Crop the part of the webpage you'd like to see on your dashboard and click OK.

The image may not scale as you wish, so take time to tinker it until it looks good.

Set a Background for Your Dashboard

To set a background, right click a blank space on the dashboard and click Edit Group

Click Additional Style Options

Browse for a Picture and click OK.

There are other things you can do: add more tabs, change the number of visible dials, and more. If you have any good tips, let us know.

This is a great way to keep organized. Thanks for the help with the crop function. I had not tried this part of Speed Dial yet. Now I can zoom in on the part of the page that I want to see without having to open another tab/window. Web surfing for Lazy People! :D

Nice tutorial, Rich but Opera has something similar as a default feature.
