My cursor always appears with a hour glass along the right side. Does anybody know how to remove the hour glass?

That particular cursor icon generally mean that Windows is waiting for something before it can continue. If it happens all the time, it may mean you need some additional RAM, or that the cursor icons have been altered by someone/something. You can manually change the cursor (Control Panel > Mouse > 'Pointers' tab).
