To keep my pc tuned up and fast, I use Ccleaner and Auslogics Boostspeed. These 2 programs have many features to tune up my pc, such as, cleaning out temp files, disk defrag, registry defrag, ram defrag, and many other tools. I also try to limit the number of programs that start at boot. This is how I keep my pc nice and fast.

To tune up my PC, I use a registry cleaner program, a hard disk defragmenter, a startup programs editor..

I use CCleaner (recycle bin context) to weed out junk files, a weekly deep scan of my entire PC (including USB drives) with MSE & Revo Uninstaller for clearing up the aftermath of program uninstallations. Defragging is done with Windows' built in tool. I tend to shy away from registry cleaners (including CCleaners) as i feel in the long term, they'll end up causing you problems, and for the most-part, it's a placebo effect anyway.
I also keep a close eye on my startup programs (msconfig) as these have a massive effect on start up times.

i CURRENTLY USE TUNE UP UTILITIES 2009 and tune up my PC as a hobby.
Defragmentation, and cleaning up unnecessary files in the C: drive of my windows are the basic needs. Other than that it also gives you options to optimise your computer's performance by changing various display settings and unnecessary animations.. I keep minimum no of programs in startup so that the boot is fast (and it IS actually fast for a vista). for that i use msconfig and tune up utilities..
