Hi, if anyone can help I'd be very grateful. Whenever I am browsing through my folders and attempt to enter the videos subfolder, windows explorer keeps crashing and then restarting? I have booted up my laptop in safe mode but the problem still occurs. (e.g. when I tried to delete a file it stopped responding). I've downloaded AVG Tune Up to try and clean up and repair any problems with my registry but to no avail. Anyone got ideas? Thanks

It sounds like you may be facing a hard drive failure - this same thing happened to me about a year and a half ago. The problem happens when trying to access bad sectors on the hard drive. Windows Explorer will stop responding or crash.

Go to your hard drive manufacturers web site and download and run their diagnostic tool.

Thanks for the advice Mike, I downloaded the Western Digital diagnostic tool and did a full scan of the hard drive. However,it came up clean with no bad sectors. So this means its a software problem? Is there a way to do a clean(or re-) install of Windows 7 without losing the data on my hard drive? Is this likely to fix the problem? Anyone with other ideas? Thanks
