New postPosted: Sat May 26, 2012 5:25 pm

I am unable to use my USB ports because I keep on getting Driver faults IE Not recognising devices. When I check properties in device manager I get the message
(Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43))

I have tried uninstalling the faulty drivers & updating a few times but no luck
I have cleared the BIOS still no luck

I would be gratefull of any help with this matter

Jim

Fault Code 43 error? I cannot load any USB devices including printer and even though the driver is installed. When I plug any device in I get "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43) "

Things I have tried todate

1/ deleted all drivers from Universal serial bus controllers, shut the computer down for 12 hrs with no power attached & then switched back on.

2/ Installed the latest cipset driver
3/ Cleared the BIOS by removing the battery

4/ Re-Installing windows 7 home premium

5/ Re-Flasing the Bios
6/ I had a eternal sata hard drive which would not work on a USB But when I installed it into the computer it works.

I find the broblem to be with the USB side rather than the drivers as though it has been switched off

Any help would be welcome

Sounds like hardware and not software, you're right.

Are the usb ports on the mobo (in the back) or satellites (in the front)?

Or is it a laptop, in which case depending on the model it's up for grabs?

In any case, what I would do in your situation is get alcohol. No, not for that silly :P I'd use isopropyl (rubbing alcohol) and GENTLY rub the inside of the usb ports with a q-tip moist, not saturated, in the isopropyl. Be sure to use an *in and out* motion, not side to side. There's gold pins inside there, and they may be dirty, or there may be something jammed all up and in there.

If that fails, well, I'd say it's the wires / connection to the mobo. If satellites, perhaps the solder/ glue holding the wires has cracked, same with solder attatching the port(s) to the mobo.

Oya, mobo = mainboard, just in case.

Cheers! Hope all goes well.
