W7 Windows Explorer search not finding known files
When searching for a file (a MS Word file, created by me and last updated in Feb 2012) I could not find the file in the correct folder in Documents.
Windows Exporer search could not find it at all - kept opening up Internet Explorer (see Screenshot 09) with error message "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" - Windows Explorer should be looking for a word doc not a web page.
Screenshot 01 image shows part of my "Documents" list of contents folders.
Screenshot 02 image shows "Properties Dialog Window" for this folder containing 434 files, 36 folders.
Screenshot 03 image shows "Properties Dialog Window" "Advanced Attributes Window" with Allow files in this folder to have contents indexed etc checked.
Screenshot 04 image shows Folder opened with only 19 items showing up. Using the search panel in top right hand corner does not find the file.
Screen shots 05 to 08 showing another separate folder in my "Documents" folder, this time for 1,501 files, 180 folders showing up in "Properties Dialog Window" but only 12 items showing up. Using the search panel in top right hand corner does not find a file know to be in this folder.
There are many folders in my "Documents" folder which have the same problem. I am the only user on this W7 desktop pc.
I have downloaded a free seach utility called "Ultra FileSearch" which found the files, inside the same folder so I have been able to access the files I needed today.
Why is W7 not finding these files? How can I repair W7 to fix this problem? Please Help
(Administrator can I please have a pdf file of my screenshots allowed to be uploaded)
