MSE was unsurprisingly high up in the list. 5328 (22%) voted for it making it very close to top spot . AVG was crowned king with 5580 (23%) votes. MSE only missed out by 252 votes, considering how new this application is, i think that's very impressive.

Am suprised that Avira only got 10% and am even more suprised that AVG got 23%, AVG would be my last choice to use of the 4 free AVs of the 5 on the Lifehacker list!! ................

I love MSE... not just because I'm a Microsoft nut, but trying to be unbiased here it's the best AV solution I've used to date. I've tried quite a few, Avast for a long time, Norton on my Dad's PCs (horrible, horrible), ESET on school computers, and none have matched up to MSE's ease of use, integration with the OS, and low system resource use. So, in all, I'm not really surprised that it was right up there, as most techie people I know of that know what Lifehacker is have tried MSE and liked it.
Were those the only ones on the list? I find it strange that they would mix free solutions with ones that in my opinion cost a fortune...

Only the antivirus, not the firewall.
It's firewall messes up with torrent clients and throttling them.
