I got the windows 8 developer version and it is great. I love the speeds and performances, but is there a way to get rid of the new menu thing? I want the start menu back... Thanks in advance.

Open regedit:
Code: Select all
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer
RPEnabled from 1 to 0


Restart Explorer:
Code: Select all
tskill explorer


Good luck with getting a better experience from it. I do hope MS remove this hack and force people to adopt the new Start Menu. Else, just use Windows 7, the "Classic" Start Menu works great there.

Yes Stu.

Windows 7 is basically the same as Windows 8, barring some small changes. I actually don't even know if the kernel is that much different at all. All Windows 7 drivers & applications work on Windows 8 as I believe. So yeah, if you don't like the Start screen, just use Windows 7.

Please use "Search" Option before Post ;)
