Post subject: Help needed! Metro tiles can't connect to internet ...
New postPosted: Wed Aug 22, 2012 4:55 pm

My weather, news, finance, bing, travel and map tiles can never connect to internet even though I can, at the same time, browse and download. I tried to figure it out in many ways but failed eventually and I'm really frustrated now. On the other hand, some of the tiles such as people, store and other 3rd party tiles i.e. wikipedia do get connected to internet and I can use those without any problem. Please give me a solution ...

Screen resolution is 1360x768. UAC is on. Graphics driver is updated.

In the picture you can see that the weather tile is offline and is suggesting me to connect to internet (the same happens to the other tiles I mentioned above). But in the charms bar Network icon is showing that I'm connected to internet and I'm actually connected to internet because otherwise I wouldn't be able to post this message.

By the way, I'm using Windows 8 RTM (90-day validation)

I can see Windows 8 falling flat on its face. Too many computer users are used to the start menu. The tiles are going to drive them crazy. I foresee a lot of Windows 8 computers being downgraded to Windows 7 (in much the same way a lot people downgraded back to XP when Vista came out.). I like Windows 7 better myself. I am learning to use 8 because I'm an instructor for a computer club and will get my copy of 8 for free (will dual boot my laptop with 7). They should have come out with a version for the slates/tablets with the tiles and a more standard edition with a start menu for PCs.
