Title says almost everything... I don't know what's useful with this one, I have it just because I don't want to ruin the image with folders So, if you want to create a invisible folder (check the picture) do like this: So, 1. Make new folder. 2. (Method one) Rename it, and with numpad write 0160 while pressing alt at same time. 2. (Method two) Open Character Map (winkey + R and write charmap.exe), and in start choose the 'empty' place. 3. Right-click folder, and choose properties. 4. Choose the 'Customize' tab and press 'Change Icon'. 5. Choose 'imageres.dll' and navigate to almost middle and choose the 'empty' icon again. 6. Click OK and OK. You are done!

Old news, but useful if ya like hiding from your wife, or gf. I am sure Rich's wife will kick his arse if he hide something from her.

Thanks for the info! I've been using alt+225 all this time. After make the folder icon invisible, I make that folder's attribute hidden and system (attrib +h +s). Then open "Folder Options->View->Do not show hidden files and folders". Works for Windows newbie.

Nice way to have a free view to the picture of the desktop. So far I have used toolbars to access faster to folders and programs.

Nice tutorial and thanks for the various methods, myself I am not an expert but I read about it ALT+0160, and some reported that they couldnt delete the invisible folder.
1) To create: right-click on the folder, choose Properties, then the custom tab, and then click the change icon... button. In the search field, specify (if this is already done by default) %SystemRoot%\system32\SHELL32.dll and select "empty" icon. Finally, valide.
If no transparent icon is available, download it from somewhere. Save on your disk, and then specify its full path in the search field.
To locate this folder, simply make a large selection throughout the Office area and you'll see your selected "invisible" character!
2) to erase the folder use winrar, right-click on the folder without name, _ "add to archive", a true name to this archive and in winrar options you should check _ "delete files after archiving" click OK.
