How to Alter Windows Experience Index

Recently I installed Windows 7 in a netbook, which directly resulted in a low Windows Experience Index (WEP hereafter).



However here is a way to fake/change the WEP.

Open Windows Explorer and navigate to C:\Windows\Performance\WinSAT\DataStore



Open the File named YYYY-MM-DD HH.MM.SS.800 Formal.Assessment (Initial).WinSAT

Note tha YYYY-MM-DD HH.MM.SS.800 will corrospond to the date time etc when WEP was first run.

Open the File in WordPad and Serach For <WinSPR>, by simply using the WordPad search Function accessible by pressing Ctrl+F.



Change the Values to Say

<WinSPR>
<SystemScore>5.9</SystemScore>
<MemoryScore>5.9</MemoryScore>
<CpuScore>9.9</CpuScore>
<CPUSubAggScore>9.9</CPUSubAggScore>
<VideoEncodeScore>7.9</VideoEncodeScore>
<GraphicScore>7.9</GraphicScore>
<GamingScore>7.9</GamingScore>
<DiskScore>9.9</DiskScore>
</WinSPR>

Or whatever. Save and restart PC for the Changes to take effect.

You shouldn't take these score for granted anyway, it is just a rough guide that's all nothing more and nothing less.... and why would you want to falsify the WEI?

In-fact, WEI is also pointless.

Hey guys, it was just for fun. My friends believe WEI more than anything else, they practically have no idea on synthetic benchmarks etc, Just to fool them .

You know you're a geek when you hack for fun!

Anyone found themselves taking WEI into consideration when purchasing software/hardware? Was this an attempt by MS to make a "standard"?

+3 If You want to change main score ; you can do by simple change the value of after <SystemScore> ..

ie;; like 6 <SystemScore>6

Note : You can change that to any number between 1.0-7.9 (1.0-5.9 in Vista)
