You're not imposing on anyone's time, and I have the patience of a Saint!
As far as setting the service to Manual or Automatic; i don't think there would be much difference as it's started "manually" anyway (ie only when an installation is initialised). I would set it to Automatic for now though.
(P.S. I don't actually run XP so unfortunately cannot provide the exact steps, otherwise i would!)

Thanks, Stu,

I have perused extensively on the Windows Installer error, which has either been corrupted by having downloading various software, or some other condition, but in checking my system it is present, but what is causing it's dysfunction remains a mystery, mainly because I am not sufficiently competent to perform the myriads of directives outlined by Microsoft and other entities regarding the performance detailed suggested methods.

I obviously require hand-holding, so I am going to contact the online advanced support that I pay a dear price for a yearly contract. One earlier response at the Windows XP Forum chastised me for using iYogi, and why did I bother with the Forum, etc. Well, in the past iYogi has been helpful in it's guidance and solutions.

Bottom line, there is no reason one cannot have the benefit of both entities, nes pau? There is only so much "hand-holding" the administrators of these wonderful forums can provide...

"Til we meet again...(probably later today, hehehe!

Hi,

Pursuant to your invitation, I am letting you know that I do need help in navigating the link to try to fix the Windows Installer error. Although, as I suggested to Stu, I perceive there is little that can be done to hold my hand while slugging through directives I feel fearful of pursuing   :?
