HELP. I don't know why my login in is so slow. It takes 40 seconds for the computer to load from Welcome screen to desktop. I already changed menu show delay in registry to 100 and changed my plain background to a picture. PLEASE HELP ASAP!! I also have an Apple Bootcamp problem. I set the program to start up in msconfig and it will not start. I tried using Advanced System Care startup manager and it still didn't work. please help!

First of all, what OS are you using? Your credentials says 7 Ultimate but you're posting under Win XP.
The login "Welcome Window" to desktop depends on what you have running in the background start ups... How much ram and CPU you have? Got to add some fillers to help you get the most out of your system...
We don't discuss Bootcamp, since it's regarding a Mac? I dislike using Bootcamp for many reasons... I rather use VMWare Fusion for Mac or VMWare Workstation for PCs. It's way more efficient then just booting back and forth... Just personal opinion...
You have the msconfig all screwed up since you've tampered with its boot functionality..
You need to elaborate more on your issues and what actions you made that caused it to do what it did...

I am using windows xp. I only have two background programs starting up, which is AVG internet security and Bootcamp. I have 4gb DDR3 ram and Intel Core 2 Duo 2.26 ghz. The reason why i asked Bootcamp here is because Bootcamp is just program and it wouldn't start up in my windows xp so i thought it was a problem with my windows xp...

It's probably booting slowly because XP has always booted slowly. Honestly, from a non-SSD hard drive, I've never really seen consistent XP boots under 40 seconds. Actually, from a HDD and a legacy OS, 40 seconds is pretty fast. Count yourself lucky.
Is the Boot Camp program installed properly? It should boot automatically with Windows. Perhaps they dropped support for XP - I'm using Windows 7 and I've had no problems with it starting at boot.

Well the computer specs is great. I had an XP, and it never took me that long, maybe a god 15/20 secs, that's from both WARM and COLD BOOT.
Defragging, clean out your drives, etc.. and it also depends on the services you have running that canm bog down your system. HDD needs defragging every now and then while SSD doesn't because it has no moving parts like the HDD does and HDD uses platters to store data while SSD uses NAND chips found in our memory chips. They (SSD) do not cluster or have bad cluster as much as HDD does.
Instead of bootcamp, how about using a Virtual Player, Free from MS? You can set it as full screen and use the OS you want to use, considering you're using a legit copy of XP, & Win 7

JustinzHereNow wrote: I solved the bootcamp problem, but I still have the 30 second wait from welcome screen to desktop. This problem has started 2 weeks ago. I already defragged my SSD with Smart Defrag and my windows loading time is pretty fast up till the welcome screen to desktop time. Any solutions? 1. SSD's don't really need defragging and sure as heck won't make any considerable difference on your boot time. If anything, you'll probably only shorten the life of your drive. 2. Try disabling some startup services. 3. Try disabling some startup applications. 4. OS up to date? 5. Other external drives plugged in? 6. Does the SSD need optimising for the OS (Windows 7will do this automatically, i doubt XP will) You should be able to configre 2&3 via. msconfig I'm with Mike when he says that XP is a slug at booting and even 40ish seconds from login to desktop is still pretty quick from my experiences!

I need to ask.
Are you using a Macbook to boot Windows? That's what Bootcamp is for. You have to understand that Windows run hotter when you use Macbook or Apple desktop. Macbook is not technically or generally made and optimized to run Windows, though it can due to Intel CPU.
I would concur Stu's message...

I have to disagree with Rick - a Macbook works perfectly fine with Windows. Yes, it runs hotter than when it runs OS X... but that's because OS X is basically less taxing on the processor and RAM than Windows on any machine (thank you UNIX).
And yes to Stu'd statement - you are killing your SSD every time you defragment. And XP is not nearly optimized for an SSD - I had to jump through about a dozen hoops for even Windows 7 to work perfectly on one.
So in all, you are using a 10 year old OS on present-day hardware, so the OS doesn't know what to do. Don't be surprised when you run into problems like this.

@ Mike, That's what I meant, they do run hotter, that's because, again, Apple is not taxing as much as MS is. It's due to its kernel, RISC to Apple compared to MS CISC functionality. So, your comments to mind is just a repeat of what I already said. LOL SSD is less clustered then the norm (HDD). People don't understand its functions of SSD compared to the old HDD. I like Apple's Macbook, their design is more futuristic then that of PC laptops. Right now, Dell, HP, etc... are taking the route of Apple's Macbook design.
