 Post subject: Partitioning USB FAT
New postPosted: Fri Oct 08, 2010 10:41 pm

Guys,

Does anyone have a good way of Partitioning FAT 2GB? I want to split it.

Computer Management will not do...

EASEUS Pro does not even see the USB.....It should but it doesn't. According to EASEUS website, it says it should...I can see it in My Computer just find and Computer Management..no it's not defective.

I was thinking of diskpart?

Emm....

Any hints would be great..

FYI..I am using Win 7 x64.

I haven't tried GParted yet.....

I can't wipe it in EASEUS because it can't see it...even if I want to wipe it, it won't see nothing....

I will try GParted...

Nope, Gparted does not work...there's no option to format it to FAT, just NTFS that's it, + other types like linux format, that is all.

Besides, I had a lot of problems using the mouse on my laptop, it was acting strange...the button wouldn't work. I followed the instruction via eHow step by step...and other sites...

Not sure what else there is to do..emm....still scratching head...

I've never tried partitioning such a small USB drive before so i'm not certain it's even possible.
Can you use diskpart to 'clean' the disk?
If so clean it, then setup the partitions and format them individually.

Yes, Stu, I dis, Diskpart....that worked....than I used the partition manager from Paragon...that worked great but not 100%....I did get the first partition to work.

I set the USB in diskpart to primary, I did the clean, etc....format it to FAT 32, etc...assign it...

However, when using Raw Write program, to write a Forensically sound image from FTK, it wipes the partition right out....emm...weird..

In Computer Management, it sees two partition...with drive letters....Very weird...but raw write wipes the partitions I created to unallocated....

All set....I did the DISKPART CLI it all worked out great.

I hate Acronis...I had Acronis Partition Manager, it messed up my boot (MBR).....It still boots but it ask top Boot from my main partition on my HDD or select a Linux Boot...I am unlike WTH?

I used DISKPART....worked good.

Thanks
