Don't entirely rule out Western Digital, however; as I always say:
"Every company, at one point or another, makes an incredible product, and a really bad one."
That being said, just bear this in mind: Some manufacturers, in order to cut down on cost and therefor increase consumer appeal, lower the rpm (rotations per minute) of their hard drives.
Normal speeds are: 5,400rpm and 7,200rpm.
Think of a hard drive as a record player. The faster the record spins, the faster the song plays. That's because you're getting more information faster. Now, this can be easily slipped by you because most consumers just look at the SIZE and nothing else.
But what I'd say for you, wanting a 1Tb hard drive is: you're better off with a 7,200rpm model, as you can read more off of it. As far as what company, do your research!
Find a model you like on a website, then look for reviews on it; see if people have had good experiences with
that specific product, and not the company in general.
Best of luck to you, hope this helps!
