Post subject: Add Delete Folder Contents to Right Click Context Menu
New postPosted: Tue Jan 27, 2009 10:29 am

With the help of this tutorial you can add the option Delete Folder Contents to the right-click context menu which appears when you right-click a folder. This would come handy at times when you want to delete all the files inside a folder and all it’s sub-folders without deleting the folders themselves.

Here’s how you can do this:

* Click on Start button, type regedit in the search box and hit enter.
* In Regedit, go to: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell
* Right-click on shell, create a new Key and name it Delete Folder Contents

Is there any way you can delete to the recycle bin first?

The files will be permanently deleted.

Would this also work in Vista? I would love to have the feature to delete pictures once I've saved them into my external hard drive. I could then just use the same folder and rename it instead of having to make a new folder.

This works with XP and Vista (just tested.) If you have folders within the folder you delete, they will be retained.

Thanks, Rich. I usually just have pictures in the folder and no folders within folders. So, this will help a lot. :)
