Post subject: Windows 7 crashes after returning from automatic hibernate?
New postPosted: Tue Jan 26, 2010 11:16 am

I have option that if I don't do anything for 15 minutes, my computer goes to hibernate.
But when I return and login again, thre always comes blue screen or then it just tilts.
It happens every time. If have tried re-installation and anything...

Computer stats:
3Gb of Ram
1,5 Tb Hard drive
NVidia GeForce 8800 GS
Genuine Intel 1.60 GHz double-processor

Can you post any error messages you see from the blue screen or event viewer? My guess is a hardware driver problem... some don't play nice with the new sleep feature.

Common answer, but sometimes overlooked: update your graphics cards driver.

I would have to agree with Rich there. Graphics are the de facto these days when it comes to sleep mode/hibernation mode.

Why not just use sleep mode and disable hibernation? I use sleep mode a lot on my laptop. Never had an issues, neither did I have issues with hibernation on Win 7.

In addition, check nVidia drivers on nVidia's website to ensure you have the correct drivers and software that find tune your graphic card.

Cheers

Sleep mode FTW! Sleep uses just a tad more power as hibernate does, yet wakes up much faster. In all honesty, when you take into account the computer entering and exiting hibernation, they are pretty much neck and neck in power usage. So you have to ask yourself, would you rather have your PC wake up faster or slower? In my opinion, I'm not even sure why Microsoft left hibernate as an option.
